The first of my recent hero products is because I have been having some problems with dry skin around my nose and on my chin and have subsequently had a few break outs in these areas too. My skin also became very sensitive and slightly red and slightly agitated. My normal moisturiser just wouldn't cut it as I didn't feel it was moisturising the dry patches and felt it was worsening the slightly agitated redness that was randomly appearing just to add to my dryness misery.
So here it is...my first hero product
Oilatum is a brand that I had never noticed until pixiwoo started gushing about it in their videos as a great moisturiser for dry skin. I have combination skin and therefore this moisturiser is too rich for me on a daily basis however the natural plant lipids help to repair the skins natural barrier therefore helping to nourish irritated, dry and sensitive skin. It feels similar to aqueous cream although not quite as thick and gloopy. Oilatum have a wide variety of products in their range including scalp treatment shampoo, shower gel, bath emollient and body moisturiser all offering damage repair qualities in a more natural form.
As I said Oilatum face cream is too rich for me to use everyday but it has been great as a small skin saviour and priced at under £8 its a nice small price tag too meaning you can continue to buy your normal luxury moisturisers and have Oilatum face cream on stand by for those skin emergencies. I have a funny feeling I am going to be reaching for it a lot in the winter when my skin is weather-beaten and particularly dry.
As far as my hair and I are concerned the next product should wear and cape and fly it is that heroic. Back in June I decided to go from brunette to blonde but with a dip-dye effect (i.e. Caroline Flack style). This involved heavily bleaching of the ends of my hair and then fading the colour upwards leaving the roots my normal dark brown colour. Expectantly this left my hair as dry as a bone and it got so bad that after washing my hair I could barely get a brush through it. Despite investing in expensive shampoos and conditioners no improvements were appearing with the condition of my hair so I resorted back to my old faithful Kérastase Nutritive Masquintense Cheveux Epais Treatment for Dry Hair. I had used this product several times in the past and had always noticed how wonderful my hair felt after using it but had forgotten just how good! After using this product my hair feels soft, well conditioned, looks shiny and needless to say a brush just glides through.

That's skin and taken care of but don't neglect the hands and this is by far the best hand moisturiser I have ever used! I have quite dry skin on my hands but hate greasy creams and have a severe allergic reaction to anything with lanolin in it so this hand cream is perfect for me. The Norwegian formula hand cream by Neutrogena is available in most pharmacists and boots as well as superdrug and main supermarkets and is reasonably priced at less than £5. You only a tiny amount as the cream is so rich and thick yet quick absorbing.

I never thought I would rave about a beauty product that my dad also uses but its true - I learnt about this product from my Dad thanks Dad!
The last 2 products are linked to one common problem - SPOTS. My skin was going through a dodgy week last week and therefore I had to maintain a strict cleansing regime as well as battle those pesky blemishes.
To keep my skin as clear as possible I was fully relying on my Liz Earl Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. I love this cleanser as it makes taking make up off so easy and quick and my skin feels nice and clean with no tightness afterwards.
With the blemishes I did have to suffer I fought them off with my last October hero product which is Origins Super Spot Remover.
You really only need to put this gel directly on the blemish itself so I apply it with a cotton bud to be precise. It really does sting for a minute or 2 but I kind of like the fact it feels like its working. It is tempting to then start touching your skin and itching around the blemish but don't! Just let it do its magic as it does start to work instantly. If you consistently apply the gel over the particular areas morning and night the blemish just slowly disappears. The Salicylic Acid ingredient also helps to reduce post spot blemishes by working on the deeper layers of skin to reduce the redness left behind. You also hardly need any product at all as it is very powerful so the little bottle although £12 will last for ages.
