Life here at 2F3 is a little tender today after a night on the tiles last night. The girls descended on Chop Chop on Morrison street for my friend Suzie's 28th birthday where we devoured a chinese banquet before heading to Guillie-Dhu at Rutland Place for drinks.
Chop chop is a BYO chinese restaurant chain with a more relaxed atmosphere than some other chinese restaurants but a pleasure to dine in none the less. The service was faultless considering we ordered the unlimited banquet for 6 people or more and a constant stream of varied dishes continued to keep on coming even after I had my plate cleared away admitting defeat that I was too full to eat any more. They even saved the day with a sugary coated apple desert including birthday candle when we realised the cake duties had been neglected by everyone!
I would highly recommend Chop Chop for large groups who want to spend less time perusing menus and more time enjoying each others company. The food was delivered efficiently with no fuss and all we had to do was make sure our glasses were topped up and sample all the delicious delights that were put in front of us, and trust me there was a lot!

We then piled into taxis and headed for Guillie-Dhu at Rutland Place for some after dinner drinks and a more lively atmosphere. Guillie-Dhu is a traditional Scottish pub/restaurant but hosts ceilidhs every Friday in their function suite upstairs. They host frequent live music events including West End Jam on the last Thursday of every month as well as Halloween and Hogmanay parties.
The pub on ground level features seating booths with private bar service through individual window hatches which I think is particularly handy if there are only 2 of you as it means one is not left on their own while the other queues at the bar. On the other side of the booths is the main bar area where the staff where kilts, the stage showcases musical talents and people have more room for a boogie.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Guillie-Dhu it was absolutely my cup of tea or vodka cranberry as the case was last night. Live music, fun atmosphere, comfortable surroundings with lots of room. The staff were so so friendly even though they were incredibly busy and as usual we were the last people to be kicked out at 3am! Definatley a sign of a great night.
